Epictober, Weekly Giveaway and Much More
[UPDATED] Weekly giveaway, new footage incoming, RC-XD private match info, and much more. What else could you ask for?
If you've been frustrated by the lack of footage and other information in the past few weeks then the forthcoming new week might please you.
Next week will feature some new footage from G4TV and we can pretty much bet our house on also getting some new footage from Gametrailers TV.
G4TV's Epictober & Gametrailers TV
Lets start the article with what we can expect from next week. G4TV » will be kicking off their "Epictober" special next week and they promise a host of exclusives, including Black Ops.
Those interested in some new footage may want to stay tuned this Tuesday as G4TV promises two exclusive videos with Treyarch's Studio Head Mark Lamia. They will take us inside the secrets of the Kowloon Single Player campaign level as well as a look at a brand-new multiplayer level that is set deep in the jungle.
As we revealed » a few weeks ago, Gametrailers TV will feature a Call of Duty: Black Ops episode next week. But there's been a change of plan to the schedule. Instead of airing at 12:30am on the Friday, it will be airing at 1:10am on the Thursday. So what does this mean? It'll mean that we get some Black Ops goodness a day earlier than originally planned!
[UPDATE] There appears to have been some confusion about the time. The show was originally meant to air on Friday night at 12:30am, this would have technically been early Saturday. Gametrailers TV shows have aired at this same time in previous weeks, but they have a new time for their next episode. The new time looks set to be Thursday night at 1:10am (early Friday).
Weekly Giveaway

Now it's time for some exciting news for our US visitors. Do you want to win some sweet goodies? The official Black Ops website » is giving you the change to do so.
Treyarch will be giving registered members the chance to win the goodies via a weekly giveaway that will lead up to the release of the game.
Here's what you can win:

RC-XD Racing You Say?
Treyarch's Design Director has been at it again on the CoDHQ forums ». This time he's addressed the idea of RC-XD racing. The RC-XD has a 30 second time limit before it automatically explodes, which disappointed those who hoped to have some racing fun.
Although there won't be any racing going on in public and wager matches, you will have the option to disable the time limit for the RC-XD in private matches.
What I said was that you could disable (the timer) in Private Match. You don't adjust the timer.
We did dork around with an RC-XD car race Wager Match type but it was a lot of work for only modest amount of fun and was only playing even remotely decent on a small percentage of maps.
The biggest challenge was that once you fell into the bottom positions recovery from it become really difficult. Solutions meant implementing too many "racing game" mechanics and features. That is best left to games like Blur, not Call of Duty.
Disable the timer in Private Match. Make up your own rules. Play with friends that will honor the rules and have at it. We put that in specifically because you said you wanted it. — Vahn
Black Ops Surpasses MW2
As IGN » reports, pre-order sales for Black Ops are looking very good. According to GameStop, Black Ops is tracking ahead of Modern Warfare 2's pre-orders last year.
Here's what GameStop's SVP of merchandising Bob McKenzie had to say:
GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops. We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard. — Bob McKenzie
Thanks to Jarsh019 » and Skull » for the heads up on some of the above news.
