Prestige and Hardened Editions Revealed
Activision and Treyarch have just announced the collector editions for Call of Duty: Black Ops. All we can say is....Vroom vroom BOOM!
They revealed the Prestige Edition in spectacular style with a video, which also shows off new footage of the Multiplayer map "Launch" that featured in the latest teaser » trailer.
Details regarding the contents of both the Prestige and Hardened edition then followed via a press release » and a new post » on the official website.
So, lets cut to the chase and get down to business! Below is the contents as listing on the Black Ops website.
Hardened Edition ($79.99 / £64.99):
- Call of Duty: Black Ops full game
- Premium, special-edition SteelBook™ case
- Limited edition Black Ops collector’s medal w/display case
- 4 additional co-op maps not included in the standard edition of the game
- Special Black Ops Xbox Live or PlayStation Home avatar outfit
Prestige Edition ($149.99 / £129.99):
The Prestige Edition is what every hardcore Call of Duty fan needs. It includes everything in the Hardened Edition, along with a real remote-control vehicle modeled after the in-game RC-XD killstreak reward! The RC-XD’s features include:
- Video & audio sent wirelessly to remote transmitter (200 ft. range)
- 2” backlit TFT 220 x176 color screen built into RC controller
- Digital proportional steering and throttle
- Independent suspension
- High and low speed settings
- Custom pistol grip style RC controller
- Display stand
But it doesn't stop there. They released a video for the Prestige Edition which shows some new footage of "Launch" in which the little RC-XD embarks on a journey to destruct and kill. It appears that the player also has the ability to destruct the vehicle rather than it automatically destructing upon impact.
Is this killstreak overpowered? It's probably best to reserve our judgment until we get more information about other additions or until we get to play the game for ourselves. Check out the video below, but I believe that the image near the end is the SOG emblem rather than "alien zombies" as suggested...
The collector editions can be pre-ordered at most retailers but be sure to hurry as limited stocks apply!
